ASTON MARTIN & MICHELIN, tailor-made tyres redefining supersport performance

The new Aston Martin DB12 ushers in a new era in the next generation of sports cars. The 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8 engine develops a class-leading 680 hp/800 Nm, raising the level of driving excitement to a whole new level.

The Aston Martin DB12 is fitted with 21-inch MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5  tyres, with a top speed of 202 mph and 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds!

The Aston Martin DB12 tyres have been specially designed in a joint project with Michelin & the Aston Martin teams. Bringing together Aston Martin’s mastery of high performance and Michelin’s advanced cutting-edge simulation tools, the Aston Martin DB12 tyres are a feat of precision engineering.

Marked with a unique designation of ‘AML’ on the sidewalls of the tyres, the MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5 for Aston Martin DB12 features a tailor-made compound, tyre profile and tread pattern to ensure the highest levels of performance and precision with maximum grip in wet and dry conditions, both on the road and on track.

The Michelin teams were involved from the start of the project. The use of highly advanced, cutting-edge simulation tools was an important factor. The simulator enabled the tyres to be fine-tuned for the vehicle with great precision.

Michelin have created this unique textured effect for a premium aesthetic appearance. The premium touch sidewall design creates a sleek, matte-black aesthetic with a velvet-like micro texture on the tyre’s sidewall.

MICHELIN Acoustic Technology effectively reduces vibrations caused by the road resulting in a significant reduction of interior noise, with no compromise on handling performance and any other performance characteristics. The MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5 feature noise-cancelling polyurethane foam is inserted within the tyre’s carcass.

Designed to deliver maximum thrills with maximum confidence, the Aston Martin Vantage’s performance has been further enhanced by ‘AML’ marked MICHELIN Pilot Sport S 5 tyres, made specifically for the sports car. The tyres feature a bespoke compound and have been tuned by Michelin & Aston Martin teams to suit the super-sharp response, high grip levels and progressive breakaway characteristics expected from the most driver-focussed model in the Aston Martin range.
