Michelin tyres - designed to win

2023, another successful season for Michelin!

In MOTOGPTM, more than 500 race wins since 1973

In 2023, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) renewed his world champion MotoGPTM title. In doing so, he earned Michelin’s 34th crown in motorcycle racing class and emerged as the 17th different rider to secure the title on the French firm’s tyres.

Since the first win in 1973 (with Jack Findley, Suzuki) and the first title in 1976 (with Barry Sheene, Suzuki), we are proud to count more than 500 race wins. Those results were achievable thanks to continual development through the years, from the beginning of slick tyres in 1973, revolutionary radial tyres in 1984 to the more recent bi-compound tyre in 2008.

Ready for 2024 season? Here are the upcoming events.

MotoGP drivers trust michelin tyres

« The Michelin technician – is part of the crew inside the garage, because we work together and we try to understand what is the best. » Miguel Oliveira

« Yeah well, for sure, trusting in a tyres I think is maybe 90 per cent of our job of riding, because tyres are so important. Also, you need to understand a lot the tyre, no? You need to know how it works – also every compound, it depends if it’s soft, medium, you have to understand really fast and for sure trust in it to be fast and it’s one of the most important things. » Jorge Martin
« A lot of confidence with these tyres and I think that, since we have been with Michelin for a long time, we have always had this confidence but on this circuit, it is true that I had more. » Fabio Quartararo

« In general, the biggest thing out of all the changes that you can make is if you change the tire or the compound, it can make a world of difference, so I would say that the main thing is tires at the end of the day. That’s where your performance is. » Brad Binder

« Everything rotate around the tires, so when you have a good choice, you can feel better and I’m a type of rider that predilect the front feeling, so when I have a good front feeling, I always go better – more smooth, more fast. » Francesco Bagnaia

« I really like to spend time with the Michelin engineers. … if you can understand well how the tires are working, also when are you on the bike, you can feel better, understand better how the tires is » Luca Marini
