Best tyres I ever had
I couldn't believe it when my 'tyre guy' first told me about these, they sounded too good to be true. But having now driven on them several years, I can honestly say they're very true indeed, and the best tyres I ever had. Superb performance year-round, regardless of weather conditions. (Okay, on sheer ice with no salt or grit they have hardly any grip, but then nothing short of studded tyres do.) They also last surprisingly long. Granted, not the cheapest tyres by any means, but well worth it.
Best around
I bought my car with these tires on I did change them to some other Michelin tire and was shocked at the difference in the wet. It’s safe to say I’ve just bought myself 4 New cross climate Michelin they are amazing !
Gravel Beware
I bought some CrossClimate tyres to give me confidence in all weather and conditions particularly towing a caravan. I cannot argue with any of the positive comments regarding the handing or wearing of these tyres and have nothing negative to say about these tyres when driving. However, if you are going to park your car on gravel overnight DO NOT BUY THESE TYRES. The fact is that they the gravel will stick to the tyres like glue (I'm not exaggerating) and you will literally have pick and in some cases chip the gravel off the tyres before going on the road every time you leave your property. The first time I left the house as I drove down the road I heard and felt a thump, thump, thump, as the wheels rotated. When I pulled into the kerb I then removed all the gravel and all was then OK. I have been parking on my driveway for years and my wife with Goodyear tyres has no problem. I had no problem with Michelin Primacy 3 tyres and the excellent handing and longevity of these tyres persuaded me to buy more Michelins. I am no tyre expert but my guess is that Michelin have come up with a new compound giving extra grip which makes them sticky on gravel. It is for this reason alone I give these tyres such a low ratings to draw attention to this problem. Another reviewer on this site has had exactly the same problem. After much correspondence with Michelin they agreed to replace the tyres with another type.

Cross Climate, one year in
I bought these tyres for extra security in the snow. In typical mixed weathered UK driving I've had no issues, in essence they're just like any other tyre in daily driving. It's with snow they really stood out. Grip was unbelievable - I have a 4wd van (normally rwd but can be 4wd at the flip of a switch). No matter how steep the road it found traction when others just wheel spun. Indeed I reversed up my drive (about 15') with no issues whereas my Kia Sportage on all terrain tyres couldn't make it up the drive in 4wd. Braking in snow was equally impressive but here came an unforseen issue - you can stop but others can't and you run a risk of being rear ended by someone on lesser tyres. They were whisper quiet when new, now at 70% worn they seem a little droney but that could be me. Let me sumize. I would unreservedly buy again and recommend to others.
Ford focus estate and standard focus
I have used cross climate fitted tyres on a Ford focus estate plus a new standard focus. The grip is excellent under acceleration and breaking. I forgot to fit cross climate when I changed my car and spent hours stuck in the snow ! ! Never again! So my primary reason for picking Michelin has and will remain for personal preparedness.
No more changing tyres
Have gone years changing winter and summer tyres to avoid the two weeks of the year when I would otherwise not be able to get to work. Last 4 years just used MXCs and not had to think about tyres again. Superb on snow and ice
Oh Dear..
I’ve just put these tyres on my car.. oh Dear .. Me… you get what you pay for… my 17 year old CLK 320 cabriolet feels beautiful… I love these tyres.
Nothing compares to these tyres
I'm writing this as I've just replaced my Crossclimate with the newer version, so this is a full life cycle review. I had the 225/55/17 in 101XL on a Mazda 6 tourer 2.2d automatic. Traction, lateral grip and breaking in the dry (regardless of temperature) has been really excellent. This is a heavyish family car and only once in the 3.5 years these were mounted did I hear them squeal due to having to take evasive action. Regardless of how hard I have had to break, the ABS never had to kick in. Through rain at speed, even towards the end of their life, no aquaplaning, excellent traction. Lateral grip in the damp dropped a little just ahead of the 3mm level. Snow, slush and ice. Great in cold "dry snow", probably 90% of the performance of an outright winter tyre and ample for the South East of England. Ice performance again comparable to a non studded winter tyre. Of course you can't get up an incline from a standing start on sheet ice, but in general driving conditions on patchy ice, with the required care and attention these cope well. Where they aren't as effective is braking and steering in wet, slushy snow. Traction in acceleration still good though. Comfort is excellent in all conditions, quiet, though a higher pitched noise than previous tyres I've had. Wear is phenomenal. This is a heavy automatic fwd car. I rotated every 6k miles and when these came off, had covered 42k miles and had 3.2mm left on average all around. They would have stayed on longer, i reckon another 8k easily, but they did suffer during the 2020 covid lockdown where the car went nowhere for 3 months and being exposed to the elements without moving caused the sidewall edges to deteriorate to a point that I felt it was time to update. They are incredible tyres, so much so in Aug 2020 I have replaced with CC and hope these are as good. I literally don't see the point in buying another brand or type of tyre again, these are the best
Very disappointed
I fitted some Michelin cross climate Michelin tyres all round on my Mondeo in October 2020, March 2021 these have lasted 10k miles. They have poor wet grip which surprised me, so back to pilot sport 4. From a personal point of view I DON’T recommend these tyres at all and for the price I think they are the worst value on the market
