MICHELIN WILD RACE’R

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/2010racer_294x119.jpg
MICHELIN Wild tread ranges have been specially developed by Michelin Technology Center engineers. This brand-new range is both simple and optimized, satisfying every use, type of terrain, bike, condition or level of performance to suit all types of use and types of terrain.
MICHELIN 2.10 WILD RACE’R TREAD DESIGN has an optimized tread design to improve performance on dry, hard-packed terrains.
- Low-height blocks along the entire tread (very fast rolling).
- Diamond-shaped tread blocks at an angle of 45° in relation to the rolling direction giving more ridges and grip.

MICHELIN WILD RACE’R ARCHITECTURE

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/tyrelayer_147x119.jpg
Features: Aramid foldable bead, Anti-chafing strip, Mid-range 60TPI (Threads per inch) casing ply, 63A Shore hardness mono-compound tread layer.
This architecture applies to tyres in the Performance segment.

MICHELIN REINFORCED TECHNOLOGY

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/reinforced_294x119.jpg
MICHELIN REINFORCED TECHNOLOGY is available for tyres to be used for Enduro or Free Ride. MICHELIN REINFORCED TECHNOLOGY consists of four plies under the entire tread and three on the sidewalls. It therefore gives greater impact resistance and reduces the risk of a puncture. Reinforced technology is available on certain tubeless tyres and tyres with tubes.

MICHELIN WILD GRIP’R

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/gripr_294x119.jpg
MICHELIN WILD GRIP’R, has a versatile tread able to cover a wide variety of terrains during the same ride.
- More massive blocks in the centre, close enough to enable the tyre to roll efficiently but sufficiently spaced out to make it self-clearing.

TUBELESS TECHNOLOGY

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/gumwall_147x119.jpg
MICHELIN Gumwall technology provides additional protection for the sidewalls against aggression and guarantees an excellent seal.

GUM X SERIES

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/gum.jpg

GUM-X Series is the latest generation of MICHELIN Wild Advanced MTB compounds.
* available on all new ranges MICHELIN Wild GRIP’R Advanced and MICHELIN Wild RACE’R Advanced Ultimate.
All the MICHELIN knowledge and latest compound technology have been used to meet the mountain bikers’ highest expectations.
It offers the best compromise between grip, rolling efficiency and mileage.
The GUM-X Series compounds are declined in different shore hardness’s (durometer):
The more the index is low, the more the gum is soft, and conversely,
the more the index is high, the more the gum is hard.

A tyre should have:
- either one shore index on the tread pattern.

- or two different shore index at the center and shoulders: harder at the centre to decrease the rolling
resistance and the wear / softer at the shoulders to increase the grip cornering and slopes.

MICHELIN WILD GRIP'R ADVANCED

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/bimodulusshoulderblock.jpg
Bridging (green part)
The shoulder blocks pitch, height and inclination angle are optimized for constant and highly
efficient cornering grip.
The steps at the base of the blocks increase the edge rate, providing a supplementary amount
of grip when cornering.
The cut into the base of the external face of the shoulder blocks confers to the blocks
a bi-modulus behaviour: the blocks are mobile under small deformations and become stiffer

MICHELIN WILD ROCK’R, has a “more dynamic” tread, efficient in extreme conditions.
- Massive rubber blocks along the width of the tread to resist the most difficult conditions.
- An aggressive shoulder tread, with rubber blocks in the shape of claws to guarantee excellent grip when leaning over, navigating ruts and good cornering.
- Central groove to give this tyre directionality.

MICHELIN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/advancedtechnology_147x119.jpg
Innovation in the MICHELIN Wild range - MICHELIN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY is available on 127 TPI tubeless and certain tube type tyres.
Michelin Advanced Technology applies Michelin expertise on the most fundamental components of a tyre:
- The Architecture of the tyre, consisting of beads and casing plies
- The tyre Tread
- The Materials or, to be more precise, the compounds

MICHELIN DESCENT TECHNOLOGY

/content/img/Bicycle_Technology/descenttechnology_294x119.jpg
MICHELIN DESCENT TECHNOLOGY, as its name implies, is the Michelin technology specifically designed for Downhill. It covers three component elements of the tyre: tread, architecture and compound.
To make a tyre sufficiently robust to withstand the highest levels of stress, Michelin has reworked the casing using innovation from the field of motorbike tyres as its inspiration. A type of rubber has been specially developed for the sidewalls to protect them from aggression. Finally, the Super Soft Compound rubber of the tread, initially used in trial motorbike racing, gives maximum grip.

These make the tyre almost impervious to casing damage and punctures. We have evidence of cyclists travelling over 4000km without a puncture using this technology.
